Senior Discounts - Entertainment and Leisure
In the third edition of our elderly discount blog series we will be looking at which discounts seniors can get in the entertainment and leisure sectors.
Did you know that you can get discounted cinema tickets if you're an elderly customer? Both Odeon and Vue cinemas across the nation offer concession tickets, some as little as £3.
Odeon offers this deal to anyone who is over the age of 55. These silver cinemas deals, as they are called, are offered on selected films and screenings both online and in the cinemas themselves. You can book up to four weeks in advance.
Vue on the other hand offer the option of a seniors ticket on all it's screenings. You need to be over 60 and ID will need to be shown upon entry with your ticket. Vue even hold regular special senior screenings at select venues. You’ll get a cuppa and a biscuit included with your ticket.
It's simple to book tickets, just head to the Vue Cinema website and find your local cinema and see what's on. Select your screening time and add the tickets to your basket. You can also book in the cinema where there is ticket offices and digital order screens.
In addition to discounted cinema tickets, as a senior resident you can also receive discounts on theatre tickets too! The majority of theatres across the country offer elderly concession tickets which are much cheaper than a regular adult ticket. This is perfect if you love going to see shows but can't afford to pay over the odds.
Better yet, you can also get discounted London theatre breaks which include an overnight stay in London as well as show. These can be found online at the likes of Superbreaks.
You could treat yourself or a loved one to perhaps a night on the west end and watch something like The Lion King, Billy Elliot, Thriller and so on.
If you're looking for something a bit more substantial and perhaps you are considering a holiday away, you can also achieve discounts and savings on Holiday breaks, cruises and bus tours. With plenty of holidays catered for the elderly there's a huge array of places to go and see with certain companies that provide discount or cheaper rates.
It's a great idea to check out sites like Saga that showcase UK breaks and also do an online search and comparison of holidays to see where the best deal is.
Cruises are great option and it's always worth ringing up companies and asking if they do any special rates for those aged 55 and over. See Cruise118's guide for more details on receiving a discount on your next cruise.
