CCS was established in 1990 for the purposes of creating a viable alternative to residential care for the elderly and those with disabilities. The company was established by Michael and Linda Headley who were residential care home owners. The idea for home care was born out of the realisation that Michael and Linda would themselves never want to live in a care home, and that given the choice, the vast majority of the elderly and people with disabilities would opt to stay at home to receive the support they require. Michael and Linda therefore set out to create the first real alternative to rest or nursing homes in Southport, Merseyside.
The company currently operates through 21 regional offices throughout the UK, under direct ownership and management, providing approximately 32,000 hours of care per week. The company also operates a franchise network providing a further 30,000 hours of care per week. The company has been successful in securing a large number of contracts with Local Authorities. CCS prides itself on being an innovator in the delivery of high quality, cost effective services aimed at empowering service users towards independence in their own homes. It achieves this through pro-active, rehabilitative and responsive services available 24 hours per day. The provision of VIRTUAL RESIDENTIAL CARE SERVICES offers a real and desirable solution to long-term care. It is based on the principle that service user's own homes are the individual rooms within our VIRTUAL CARE HOME; their streets are our corridors; and our personal alarm technology combined with a caring response service is the nurse call system, summoning help 24 hours per day. CCS seek to ensure that only competent, reliable and trustworthy staff are employed in the service, and that they understand and have empathy with the varying needs of the service user groups they work with. CCS also seeks to ensure that all personal assistants recruited are in all respects suitable persons to provide personal and social care to people in their own homes. All personal assistants will have the personal qualities and caring attitudes that enable them to relate well to service users and carers. Personal assistants will be committed to promoting independence and general health and well-being, and will be able to make an objective evaluation of the service user's changing care needs. They will be committed to the reduction of risks e.g. will be able to give guidance on the prevention of falls. Care Assistants will be trained in moving and handling, and will have regular updates.
